Physical Education Classroom Guidelines

Dress:

All students will be in uniform for class.  Proper uniform includes:

• Orange T-shirt
• Black Shorts
• Tennis Shoes (no sandals, boots, etc.)
• Athletic socks

Grading:  Students are given one "free" No Dress.  Any No Dress after the first one will lower the student's grade one letter.  Students who do not dress will be expected to participate in that days warm up activity and be given an alternate assignment.  

Participation and Effort:

Everyone is required to participate in all activities everyday in class.  Lack of participation will be accounted for and result in the lowering of the students cumulative grade. 

All students are expected to give their best effort daily.  This portion of the student's grade will be figured subjectively at the instructor's discretion. 

Students will be excused from class for the following reason:

• Medical excuse.  A note must be seen by the instructor as well as be in file with the front office. 

Note:  Parental excuses will be evaluated by the instructor but not excused.

Behavior:

Sportsmanship is paramount.  Behaviors that will result in the lowering of the student's grade are:

• Arguing with instructor or classmates.
• Downgrading any student in class or any student's abilities.
• Displaying negative attitude toward activity, individuals, instructor, or rules.

Fitness Testing:

Students will be evaluated on their performance in the mile run.  Students are encouraged to keep improving their fitness level.  The students should strive to improve as their times will be evaluated and could affect the student's final grade.  Students will be instructed in different activities throughout the school year which will aid in improving student fitness levels.
